DC Studios is looking to add a familiar face, albeit from another cinematic universe, to the streets of Gotham, as the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s (MCU) Sebastian Stan is in talks to appear alongside Robert Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne in the upcoming The Batman: Part II.

As reported by Variety, the 43-year-old actor, best known for his roles as Bucky Barnes, aka the Winter Soldier, in MCU films like 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier and 2025’s Thunderbolts*, is currently circling a role in the upcoming superhero sequel, although it’s currently unclear who he will be playing if talks go through, whether he will be trading one superhero suit for another, or perhaps even swapping sides to play a villain instead.
If discussions do go through, that adds yet another notch to the film’s already star-studded belt, as Stan will join Scarlett Johansson, who also made the jump from her roles as Black Widow in the MCU to the DC Universe, alongside the return of familiar faces from the first film like Colin Farrell (Total Recall) as Oswald Cobblepot, aka The Penguin, and Jeffrey Wright’s (Casino Royale) Jim Gordon. Zoë Kravitz’s Catwoman, however, is not expected to make a return.

Written by Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) and Mattson Tomlin (Project Power), The Batman: Part II isn’t officially a part of the newly relaunched DC Universe, but is still being made under James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Studios banner. Much of the film’s plot is still being kept firmly under wraps, but the project is set to begin filming in Spring this year, with a planned October 2027 release.
