New Straw Hat Pirate JRPG ‘One Piece Odyssey’ Announced For 2022 Release

In a new and probably welcomed announcement, Bandai Namco has revealed One Piece Odyssey, a new open-world JRPG game that is being developed by ILCA, Inc. More importantly, it will be an original story by series creator Eiichiro Oda, who is also designing the new characters and monsters appearing in this game.

Slated for a 2022 release on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, One Piece Odyssey will bring together a large cast of playable characters into the mix as well. Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Usopp, Sanji, Chopper, Robin, Frankie, and Brook are all here, as players explore dungeons, team up and fight, and of course, discover the mysteries that surround them.

In a separate producer interview with Katsuaki Tsuzuki, he revealed that the team has been working with Oda for the past three years, and that will allow the game to have authenticity as a “full-blown RPG.”

One Piece Odyssey

The announcement of One Piece Odyssey also lines up nicely with the series’ 25th anniversary. We can expect plenty of bombastic action, drama, and spending more time with the Straw Hat Pirates. If that is not enough, there is always the live-action series that will be coming to Netflix, along with the rest of the anime.
