Christopher Reeve’s Son, Will, To Cameo In James Gunn’s ‘Superman’

As production continues on James Gunn’s Superman, the son of the iconic Man of Steel has arrived in Cleveland to make a special cameo.

Will Reeve, son of legendary Superman actor Christopher Reeve, will reportedly appear as a Metropolis TV reporter — a fitting role given his real-life job as an ABC News correspondent. He was seen embracing Gunn in a hug while filming in Cleveland.

Christopher Reeve, his father, is inextricably connected to the Superman franchise, defining the role for an entire generation. His journey began in 1978 when he played the titular character in Richard Donner’s Superman: The Movie. The actor continued to wear the cape in the next three sequels.

Will Reeve and his siblings also feature in the upcoming documentary Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story. This film, directed by Ian Bonhôte and Peter Ettedgui, explores Christopher Reeve’s life and focuses on his disability activism following his 1995 horse-riding accident. Warner Bros. and DC Studios acquired the documentary, which premiered at Sundance to critical acclaim.

James Gunn’s Superman marks the first title in a revamped DC slate overseen by studio bosses Gunn and Peter Safran. The film will follow the titular superhero as he looks to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. David Corenswet stars as the Man of Steel, joining an ensemble cast that includes Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, and more recently, María Gabriela de Faría as the Engineer.

The film is still currently in production and is scheduled to hit theatres on 11 July 2025.
