Rockstar Games Animator James Martinchek has recently left the company, in favour of rejoining his former Naughty Dog colleague Quentin Cobb at an unannounced Sony studio as Lead Animator.
I'm happy to welcome my good friend James Martinchek to the team as our new Lead Animator! We worked together on The Last of Us and Uncharted 4 back in our Naughty Dog days and he just finished working on Red Dead 2! #Playstation pic.twitter.com/wlf8wgco8d

Martinchek’s most notable work as Senior Animator at Rockstar was the Western juggernaut Red Dead Redemption 2, which was clearly a big hitter in most aspects, including animation. Rockstar will surely miss a talented individual such as Martincheck.
The people he will be linking up with are mostly those whom he has worked with before at Naughty Dog Studios, delivering killer animation work to the likes of The Last of Us and Uncharted 4.
It’s worth noting in Cobb’s Tweet that he and Martinchek are shaking hands at an unnamed PlayStation studio.
Cobb is a Senior Game Designer at Sony and is currently working on an unannounced game that will probably be exclusive to PS4 (considering the fact that he’s working in Sony).
Hey internet! My team is looking for a Lead Gameplay Animator and a Lead Environment Artist! If you know of anyone please send them my way! https://t.co/vl8eyYYvsl

Since 2018, he had been assembling his team of designers and animators to work on this new project.
Considering how incredible their previous works together have been, this rekindling of old flames between Martinchek and Cobb could prove to be the start of something new and beautiful.
Marion has a serious RPG addiction. Sometimes it bleeds into real life; he forgets to sleep because he thinks he has a Witcher’s body clock. Forgive him in advance if he suddenly blurts out terms such as “Mind Flayer” and “Magic Missile”, because never once does he stop thinking about his next Dungeons & Dragons game.
