Hulu is on a roll! After revitalising the Predator franchise with Prey, the streamer is now rebooting Clive Barker’s 1987 cult horror film, Hellraiser.
Part of the streamer’s ‘Huluween’ celebration of all things horror every Halloween, the Hellraiser reboot will be released on 7 October. Accompanying the announcement is a short video that reveals Pinhead’s new look.
Sense8 actress Jamie Clayton now play the master Cenobite and is the fourth actor to play the character. She is also the first female to play the iconic Cenobite.
The reboot’s synopsis reads:
“In the all-new Hellraiser, a young woman struggling with addiction comes into possession of an ancient puzzle box, unaware that its purpose is to summon the Cenobites, a group of sadistic supernatural beings from another dimension.”
The new Hellraiser flick will be the eleventh in the franchise, with fans hoping this marks a turning point for the long-running, but ailing, horror franchise. It is also rated R.
Hellraiser will star Odessa A’zion, Jamie Clayton, Adam Faison, Drew Starkey, Brandon Flynn, Aoife Hinds, Jason Liles, Yinka Olorunnife, Selina Lo, Zachary Hing, Kit Clarke, Goran Visnjic, and Hiam Abbass. David Bruckner will direct the film based on a script by Ben Collins, Luke Piotrowski, and David S. Goyer. Clive Barker is on board as producer alongside Goyer, Keith Levine, and Marc Toberoff.
Hellraiser premieres on 7 October on Hulu.
