As we draw closer to the dawn of the eighth generation of console gaming, we’re slowly getting a hint as to what titles we can expect at launch for both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. However, probably no one anticipated that a sequel to The Order: 1886 to be one of them.
As it turns out, an upcoming game trailer was leaked online, claimed NeoGAF forum user and the person who previously leaked the PS4 Pro, OsirisBlack, who described it in detail.
In their own words, the supposed trailer was “the best looking” they had seen from a graphical sense, which could imply that next-gen processors and GPUs could be at work here.
While Ready At Dawn didn’t explicitly confirm this, the American dev did indicate that it was currently “working on a new AAA console title”, as told by CEO Ru Weerasuriya in an interview with VentureBeat in 2019.
The Order: 1886 was released in 2014 as an exclusive launch title for the PlayStation 4. While the game was praised for its gritty, Victorian-era-inspired visuals, it ultimately flopped due to being too simplistic in gameplay, as well as being too short in length with very little to no replay value.
If there was to actually be a sequel to The Order: 1886, Ready At Dawn could use the shortcomings of the original to make this potential new one a much more substantial game.
Marion has a serious RPG addiction. Sometimes it bleeds into real life; he forgets to sleep because he thinks he has a Witcher’s body clock. Forgive him in advance if he suddenly blurts out terms such as “Mind Flayer” and “Magic Missile”, because never once does he stop thinking about his next Dungeons & Dragons game.
