Porsche Veers Off Track With US$2,500 Gaming Chair

It’s not everyday that the Porsche dream comes true, but premium gaming seat supplier Recaro is making that closer to reality…well, of sorts. The brand has joined forces with Porsche to release a US$2,500 gaming chair, available only for a limited time.

Standing at nearly 152cm, the 26.7kg chair features an adjustable backrest, two shifting wheels on either side, and “5D armrests”, which can be rotated 360 degrees from the front pivot point. A big, bold Porsche crest lies on the front headrest dipped in gray, exuding the feeling of a luxury car seat.

The overall colour scheme, meanwhile, is a lot more vibrant. Decked out in red and black, the gaming chair takes after elements from both brands: the red and black strokes of Porsche’s motorsport vehicles, and the design architecture of the Recaro Exo Platinum.

Comfort-wise, users can expect an “ergonomically optimised seat shell made of high-quality upholstery foam and breathable fabrics”, firm lumbar support, and an anti-submarining seat ramp. The chair also has a max load capacity of around 150kg, so it’ll be able to handle most of the population.

The Porsche x Recaro gaming chair retails for US$2,500, and is limited to 911 units worldwide. It’s highly exclusive, but chances are there’ll be restocks sometime in the near future, considering this isn’t the first wave of orders — that can be traced back to January this year, when the collaboration was first announced.

The trend of combining luxury with gaming isn’t new, with both Razer and Secretlab having their own special-edition Automobili Lamborghini gaming chairs priced at US$1,299 and US$1,599 respectively. Ferrari next, perhaps?
