Pokémon Trading Card Game Battle Academy Lets ’90s Kids Relive Their Childhood With Their Kids

For ’90s kids, card games such as Yu-Gi-Oh! and Magic: The Gathering were all the rage growing up. Though many have fallen into obscurity over the years, the Pokémon Trading Card Game was definitely among that pantheon of TCGs that has since stood the test of time.

Recently, The Pokémon Company announced a new entry in the long-running franchise. Pokémon Trading Card Game Battle Academy is designed to bring new players and returning ones into the mix by providing the essentials one needs to be a Pokémon Master at the table.

Catered for two players, Battle Academy provides the following:

  • Three 60-card Pokémon TCG decks (Pikachu, Charizard, Mewtwo)
  • A game board
  • Tutorial guides for beginners, one for each deck
  • A rulebook for advanced players
  • Accessories such as damage and status counters to speed up play

Additionally, the box also provides a code card that lets players play the TCG digitally via the free-to-play Pokémon TCG online app on iOS and Android, as well as on Pokémon.com.

Pokémon Trading Card Game Battle Academy launches worldwide on 31 July 2020, with folks in the US being able to grab it at Target outlets as early as 21 June 2020. The retail price will be announced at a later date.
