PlayStation State of Play Feb 2025 Reveals ‘Onimusha: Way of the Sword’ Gameplay & More

The first PlayStation State of Play showcase has come and gone, offering a look at the future of PS5 gaming with a slew of updates, new announcements, and release dates. Held on 13 February 2025, it saw several big titles missing in action, including some form of Bloodborne news (which never fails to escape the rumour mill), Naughty Dog’s Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, Marvel’s Wolverine, and Ghost of Yotei.

There were other heavyweights thrust into the spotlight, however. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is confirmed to launch on 28 August 2025, as previously leaked by the PlayStation Store, while a new trailer for Borderlands 4 unveiled a 23 September release. Onimusha: Way of the Sword also dropped a first look at samurai hero Miyamoto Musashi, modelled after legendary Japanese actor and frequent Akira Kurosawa collaborator Toshiro Mifune, with Sonic Racing CrossWorlds shown off for the first time.

As for smaller projects and surprise announcements, The Midnight Walk stands out as a “cosy horror” game made entirely with claymation, whereas Lies of P: Overture marks the first expansion for the action RPG darling. Five Nights at Freddy’s: Secret of the Mimic, Directive 8020, the latest entry in Supermassive Games’ The Dark Pictures Anthology, and Digimon Story: Time Stranger all made their debut, too.
