The PlayStation Store seems to have pulled the trigger early, as the release date of Metal Gear Solid: Delta Snake Eater has been updated from its previous 2024 listing ahead of an official announcement. As seen on its product page (and shared to ResetEra), the highly anticipated “PS5 Pro Enhanced” entry will launch on 28 August 2025.

A shiny new trailer was also leaked on the PlayStation App version of the store, showcasing a fresh look at familiar scenes from the 2004 title. As it ends off, a monkey from Ape Escape appears as a nod to the Snake vs. Monkey mini-game, in which Snake uses stun grenades and a “Monkey Shaker” gun to immobilise the apes.
Both updates have since been taken down, with the PlayStation Store now listing a general release window of 2025. Metal Gear Solid: Delta Snake Eater was initially slated to debut in 2024, but the year passed without word of a firmed-up launch date. It’s safe to assume that more information will be announced at the State of Play showcase later this month, likely to be the reason behind the leaks.

A remake of the third Metal Gear Solid game, Konami’s forthcoming remake has been designed with future generations in mind. Set in 1964, the original game follows Naked Snake, who must save a Russian rocket scientist and sabotage the Soviet nuclear super weapon Shagohod, while clearing the United States from Soviet suspicion amid Cold War tensions, and confronting his former mentor, who has defected to their side. It marks the fifth mainline entry in the franchise and the first chronological one overall.
