Paramount’s Call of Duty movie adaptation now has a targeted launch date in its sights and will release in theatres on 30 June 2028.

As reported by Eurogamer, the announcement was made during Paramount’s presentation at CinemaCon 2026 in Las Vegas, one that coincided with other heavy-hitting reveals like Top Gun 3, the World War Z sequel, and the continuation of other iconic IPs like Star Trek and G.I. Joe.
“I told everyone we were only going to make a movie if it’s right,” said Rob Kostich, head of game franchise publisher Activision and producer on the film. “We want to make sure that the authenticity of it is captured on a human level so that it feels really real and infuses that with epic scope.”
First announced in 2025, the Call of Duty film, which is yet to be officially titled at this point, will be directed by Peter Berg, best known for his works like 2008’s Hancock and the 2012 board game adaptation, Battleship. Berg will also co-write the film’s script with Taylor Sheridan of Yellowstone fame.

While no further details on the adaptation’s plot or cast of characters were announced, Berg explained that he and Sheridan were “both deeply connected to the special ops community”, promising an adaptation that can represent the life of a soldier on a “human level”, while also presenting the conflict on an “amazing scale”.
The Call of Duty film certainly has ample source material to draw from, be it the early World War II-era games or the Modern Warfare and Black Ops franchises. The film could also go in a different direction entirely with its own original plot, but one things for sure – expect a whole lot of explosive set pieces, and, if Paramount is playing its cards right, an appearance by Captain John Price.
