Oshi No Ko will get a live-action movie and TV show based on the manga in a surprise announcement from Toei Animation and Amazon Prime. The movie is set to open in theatres worldwide and the TV show will be an Amazon Prime exclusive, with both premiering on the same date.
The anime quickly rose to fame when it released on Netflix in 2023, with idol unit YOASOBI performing the theme song ‘Idol’, winning awards and a second season coming this year. Twins Aqua and Ruby, meanwhile, stole the hearts of viewers, with fans attempting to mimic their lightstick waving skills.
Here’s the synopsis of the anime:
Dr. Goro is reborn as the son of the young starlet Ai Hoshino after her delusional stalker murders him. Now, he wants to help his new mother rise to the top, but what can a child do about the dark underbelly of the entertainment industry?
The announcement also came with teaser images being released of the cast, which stars Kaito Sakurai (Kimi ni Todoke) as Aqua, Nagisa Saito (Kaikaku Uso Nikki ) as Ruby, and Asuka Saito (Don’t touch Eizouken!) as the deceased idol Ai. Nanoka Hara (Voice of Sin) will play Kana, and Mizuki Kayashima (Guru no Musume) will play Akane. Many of the cast members are also idols and musicians, making the casting more authentic.
The Oshi No Ko live-action movie and TV show will air in winter 2024.
