‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Star Hopes For Young Leia Spin-off, Says Ewan McGregor Is “Begging” For Season 2

The second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi may no longer be in active development, but that’s not stopping Vivien Lyra Blair, who plays young Leia Organa in the Disney+ series, and main lead Ewan McGregor from hoping for more.

Obi-wan Kenobi Young Leia Spin-off

Speaking to The Direct, the 11-year-old shared her wish to get her very own Star Wars spin-off that follows a young Princess Leia on Alderaan. “We’re kind of hoping for my own show there,” she said. “We’re kind of thinking it could be fun to do a show of Leia on Alderaan. And I really hope something like that could work out.”

Blair is cognisant of the potential story gaps, should the idea take off. While her character played a major role in a previously unseen chapter in the Jedi Master’s life, canonical happenings established the pair never met again until the original trilogy, so it’s unlikely Blair will return for a second outing.

“I would love to, but I was saying like, I don’t see how I would fit into it,” she explained. “Because it’s very implied that she doesn’t see him again until she asked for help in the fourth movie, A New Hope. And so, I think it’s kind of like, how would I fit into that?”

And as things remain in gestation, hopes are still high for a second season.

“A lot of people are asking me, ‘Will we get a second season of Obi-Wan?’ ”shared Blair. “And I honestly, I think it’s very much a possibility because Ewan [McGregor] is just begging to do another one. He’s really excited.”

Previously, the Star Wars star told British GQ that he would love to continue playing the role of the titular character. “I really hope we do another. If I could of one of these now and again — I’d just be happy about it.”

Whether the sequel to Obi-Wan Kenobi will eventually happen remains to be seen, but fans shouldn’t abandon the notion of it. “But I never say never, because there’s always the possibility. That show was so well-received and [director] Deborah Chow did such a spectacular job.”
