Another poster for Lionsgate’s 2019 Hellboy film has dropped, and we’re on fire. Or well, Hellboy’s crown is. It floats atop his recognisable red scalp as a pretty literal symbol of his true name, Anung Un Rama (which translates to, and upon his brow is set a crown of flame).
Taking on the mantle of Earth’s half-demon protector, David Harbour — whom you may recognise as Chief Hopper from Stranger Things — looks brilliantly badass with Hellboy’s curved horns sprouting from his forehead, We also like the tagline that’s just above the title, “Demons have demons too”, succinctly humanizing.
IGN, who got the exclusive on the poster, also revealed that we’ll finally be getting our first look at Hellboy’s trailer this Thursday, and that’s only a couple of days away.
According to the movie’s synopsis, Hellboy will be battling “an ancient sorceress bent on revenge”, which is probably referring to Nimue the Blood Queen, played by Milla Jovovich of Resident Evil renown. Alice Monaghan, Hellboy’s love interest, will be played by Sarah Lane (Black Swan), and jaguar-shape-shifting soldier, Daimio, will be played by Daniel Dae Kim (Hawaii Five-O).
The film is set to take to the theatres on April 12, 2019. And considering how Hellboy’s creator, Mike Mignola, has a hand in its story, we’ve high hopes for it. Well, we’ll be adjusting our expectations this Thursday when the trailer lands, if anything.
