Netflix has swiftly renewed Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft for a second season, just two weeks after the first season’s eight-episode debut. The animated series, based on the iconic Tomb Raider video game franchise, continues the adventurous saga of Lara Croft, voiced by Hayley Atwell (Agent Carter), bridging the gap between Square Enix’s reboot trilogy and the classic games. This fresh chapter dives deeper into Lara’s evolution, serving up new mysteries and thrills to long-time fans and newcomers alike.

Season two promises an action-packed journey as Lara embarks on a quest to recover stolen African Orisha masks, joining forces with her best friend Sam (Karen Fukuhara, The Boys). The official logline teases a global pursuit, pitting Lara against a cunning billionaire with her own plans for the relics. But the stakes are high — these masks hold secrets that defy science and hint at divine power, pushing Lara into uncharted supernatural territory.
Alongside Atwell and Fukuhara, season one’s voice cast boasted talents like Allen Maldonado (American Carnage) and Earl Baylon (Curses!), with Richard Armitage (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey), Zoe Boyle (Sons of Anarchy), Roxana Ortega (The Casagrandes), and Nolan North (Uncharted) in recurring roles.

Legendary Television is producing the series, with The Witcher: Blood Origin’s Tasha Huo as showrunner and executive producer. dj2 Entertainment’s Dmitri M. Johnson, Crystal Dynamics’ Noah Hughes, and Powerhouse Animation’s Brad Graeber are also key figures bringing this animated tale to life.
“So Season 1, thematically, is about Lara embracing how her dad dealt with grief, which was isolating,” Huo explained to Tudum. “When we meet Lara, she’s very isolated … As we get into Season 2, we’re trying to build Lara’s team over the course of the show, so she goes from isolated hero, who only wants to do things on her own — a lone wolf — to realizing, ‘Actually, I have this really cool team behind me.’” And for those hoping for a bit of added excitement, Huo also teased that there might be a shark in Season 2 that Lara will have to wrestle with.
