Netflix To Reward Ad-Supported Binge-Watchers With Ad-Free Option

Netflix is ramping up incentives for its ad-supported subscribers by introducing an enticing perk for binge-watchers.

Starting in early 2024, if users watch three consecutive episodes, the fourth will be ad-free. This innovative move is set to reduce the disruption of commercials for dedicated viewers.

A year since its inception, the ad-supported plan initially only provided 720p streaming quality. However, the company upped the ante earlier this year, upgrading the plan to feature 1080p playback and two simultaneous streams without extra costs. These improvements have undeniably made this tier more appealing for both new and seasoned subscribers.

Netflix highlighted these changes in a recent blog post, emphasizing its commitment to enhancing the viewing experience. In addition to offering an ad-free episode for binge-watchers, the platform will introduce a new ad format next year.

This format will give advertisers the option to reduce ad frequency for viewers on the ad-supported plan. With this innovative approach to advertising and its improved features, the streaming giant beckons potential subscribers.

This strategic move comes as Netflix reports 15 million global active users monthly. In the third quarter of 2023, the streaming service gained 6 million new subscribers, a surge that could have been influenced by the password-sharing crackdown.

While this plan still offers a budget-friendly option for those unbothered by occasional commercials, Netflix ensures a smoother streaming experience come 2024.
