Mortal Kombat 2 is getting ready to deliver Fatalities on the big screen yet again, as it rounds out the rest of its cast. IGN reports the sequel to 2021’s Mortal Kombat will star bodybuilder Marytn Ford as Shao Kahn, Desmond Chiam as King Jerrod, Ana Thu Nguyen as Sindel, and Damon Herriman as Quan Chi.
Old faces are set to return as well, with most of the original cast reprising their roles for round two in the ring. The confirmed list includes Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Josh Lawson as Kano, Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden, Mehcad Brooks as Jax, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, Joe Taslim as Bi-Han and Sub-Zero, Hiroyuki Sanada as Hanzo Hasashi and Scorpion, and Max Huang as Kung Lao.
Simon McQuoid, director of the previous movie based on the popular fighting game, is returning to the helm the project. Jeremy Slate will serve as screenwriter, while James Wan, Michael Clear, Todd Garner, McQuoid, and E. Bennett Walsh are hopping onboard as producers. No release date has been set for Mortal Kombat 2.
It’s a good time to be a fan of the series. Apart from the upcoming feature, there’s also NetherRealm Studios’ Mortal Kombat 1 (formerly referred to as Mortal Kombat 12) lined up for 19 September, which promises even more bloodbath and brutal fatalities to come.
