Moon Knight’s QR Codes Easter Eggs Give Free Digital Comics

Games, movies and TV series have had a tradition of hiding Easter eggs within their product. Mainly because fans love them, since they reward those with a keen eye with a link to its lore, immersion into the story, and an aha moment of recognition. Moon Knight on Disney+, about the multifaceted Marvel superhero played by Oscar Isaac, also has its share of Easter eggs, but one that stood out was the use of QR codes within the show.

In most shows, the set usually just provides some visual backdrop for the scenes to take place. Many of the details will be glazed over by the audience. And most usually really are inconsequential props, but this is not so for Moon Knight.

Last week, some curious eagle-eyed fan supposedly tested out the QR code found next to a sarcophagus in the museum where the protagonist Steven Grant works. It turns out the QR code leads somewhere.

The QR code in the second episode of the show is also functional.

They both lead to a page on Marvel.com that hosts free-to-read Moon Knight digital comics. These are updated weekly, so if you missed the earlier weeks, you are out of luck. But, wait, what’s this – a free trial to Marvel Unlimited, the subscription-based comic service, and an 80% off the first month for new subscribers if you check out using KHONSHU?

Smells like a marketing ploy to us. But hey, a free comic is a free comic.

And since it is likely that Marvel will update the page with a different Moon Knight comic issue each week, you can check back every Wednesday 7am GMT (which is when a new Moon Knight episode releases on Disney+) for your comic fix.
