British singer-songwriter and actress Charli XCX is joining forces with horror legend Takashi Miike (Visitor Q, Audition) for a new film project, which is now backed by a star-studded cast including Milly Alcock (House of the Dragon) and Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead).

As reported by Variety, the film is steadily taking shape with the announcement of its plot and additional cast. Written by Ross Evans under the working title “Untitled Kyoto Project”, the film will follow three friends who embark on a holiday in Kyoto, only to have Charli’s character possessed by a tortured spirit and turn their dream vacation into a complete nightmare.
The film will also be produced by Charli’s company, Studio365, and will star Charli, Alcock and Reedus alongside Sho Kasamatsu (Tokyo Vice) and Kiko Mizuhara (Ride or Die). This project looks to be Charli’s biggest one yet, with the 33-year-old steadily transitioning from music icon to movie star, following her big-screen debut in the 2025 drama Erupcja alongside various appearances in other films like 2025’s 100 Nights of Hero, and the recent mockumentary The Moment.

With the involvement of Miike, known for various works such as 2001’s Ichi the Killer, 2010’s 13 Assassins, and 2017’s Blade of the Immortal, alongside a multitude of horror titles, fans can expect this upcoming film to be a bloody affair filled with equal parts violence and jumpscares. The film will also mark his first major Western release, and with a stacked cast like Alcock and Reedus, he seems to be making his regional debut with a bang.
