Meta Quest 2 Gets US$100 Price Increase From August Onwards

If you’ve been sitting on the fence about getting a wireless VR headset, now might be the best time to do so, before the retail price of the Meta Quest 2 (Oculus Quest 2) gets a US$100 price hike. Starting from 1 August, Meta Quest 2 will cost US$399.99 and US$499.99 for the 128GB and 256GB versions respectively. Alongside these changes, Meta will also be increasing the prices for Meta Quest 2 accessories and refurbished units.

Prices on Amazon (US) and Amazon (SG) are still at the original US$299.99 and US$399.99 respectively, but stocks will bound to run out quickly, now that the news is out.

According to a recent blog post, Meta stated that the costs to make and ship Meta products have been on the rise. So by adjusting the price of the Quest 2, they can continue to grow their investment in groundbreaking research and new product development that pushes the VR industry to new heights.

Despite the significant price increase, Meta Quest 2 still remains the most affordable VR headset on the market. On the bright side, to help ease the price jump a little, anyone who purchases a Meta Quest 2 from 1 August to 31 December 2022 will receive a copy of Beat Saber for FREE. Just make sure you activate the headset before 31 January 2023 to receive it.

Speaking of VR headsets, PlayStation has recently shed more light on its upcoming PS VR2, which will offer self-broadcasting, a see-through view and a user-customisable play area.
