Amazon’s Masters of the Universe movie has received its biggest update yet with the release of its first official teaser image, showing off He-Man actor Nicholas Galitzine wielding a revitalised version of the iconic Power Sword.

This marks the second time the legendary blade has been brought to life in a live-action flick, the first being 1987’s Masters of the Universe starring Dolph Lundgren in its leading role. Whereas the previous film took certain liberties in its recreation, renaming it as the Sword of Grayskull and adding bronze accents to its crossguard, this latest incarnation follows closer to its source material with a look akin to that of the 1983 cartoon He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. He-Man is also seen with an updated bracer design, a neat step up from his original simplistic orange bands.
That being said, leading man Galitzine had previously teased that the film would be taking a different approach to the originals, revealing during an interview with Collider that this version will be “quite different from the original animation” and that they are “treating [their] script as as Bible” in the hopes of combining the element of nostalgia while attracting new fans to the IP.
Directed by Travis Knight (Bumblebee), the upcoming movie has undergone a rather tumultuous development journey, changing hands multiple times and receiving numerous recasts of its leading roles before landing on its current team. Galitzine’s He-Man will be joined by a star-studded cast including Camila Mendes as Teela, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Idris Elba as Man-At-Arms, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson as Fisto and Jared Leto as Skeletor, with its script being written by Chris Butler, revising earlier drafts by David Callaham and Aaron and Adam Nee.
Masters of the Universe will channel the power of Grayskull when it releases on 5 June 2026.
