‘Malcolm in the Middle’ Revival Marks Disney+ Top 2026 Premiere With 8.1M Views In 3 Days

The Disney+ revival series Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair is proving just how powerful nostalgia can be, as the show has seen strong viewership since its premiere on 10 April, rising to become the streamer’s top-ranking title of the year.

As reported by Deadline, Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair got off to a strong start by clocking 8.1 million views globally within the first three days of its premiere. According to Disney, these figures make it the best season premiere of any show so far this year across its two streaming platforms, Hulu in the United States and Disney+ internationally.

In particular, the show performed especially well in regions like Latin America, where it recorded 3.6 million views on Disney+ within the same time period. This made it the second-best season premiere of all time in the region, behind only Season One of Loki in 2021. Additionally, the revival also sparked renewed interest in the original 2000 comedy series, which saw viewship rise by 18 million hours compared to the previous week, or a 107 per cent increase.

Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair continues the story of Frankie Muniz’s Malcolm, who is trying to maintain a peaceful life with his girlfriend, Tristan (Kiana Madeira), and daughter, Leah (Keeley Karsten), only to be pulled back into the drama of his dysfunctional family thanks to his parents’ 40th anniversary party.

The revival will see the return of almost all the original show’s main cast, including Bryan Cranston as Malcolm’s father Hal, Jane Kaczmarek as his mother Lois, Chris Masterson as his eldest brother Francis, and Justin Berfield as his older brother Reese, although Caleb Ellsworth-Clark has taken over the role of Malcolm’s younger brother Dewey, originally portrayed by Erik Per Sullivan.

Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair was written by original series creator Linwood Boomer, with the four-episode season directed by Ken Kwapis (He’s Just Not That Into You) and produced by 20th Television.
