Since his Oscar-winning Hollywood resurgence in Everything Everywhere All at Once in 2022, Ke Huy Quan’s career has been on a well-deserved meteoric rise. Fresh off his first major action role in Love Hurts — from Jonathan Eusebio in his directorial debut — Quan has now locked down another exciting lead role, with Fairytale in New York. an action thriller directed by Sisu’s Jalmari Helander.
In Fairytale in New York, Quan will play a New York cabbie who’s just trying to make it home for Christmas to see his estranged son… until he’s thrust into a dangerous situation involving a gang of thugs and a priceless Christmas gift. There will sure to be plenty of punching, kicking, and possibly a few cab chases through NYC.
Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Adam Fogelson has high hopes, saying, “Fairytale in New York is a wildly entertaining, thrill ride of an action film and an emotionally resonant story about family. And every once in a while, an actor hits their prime. Ke Huy Quan is having that moment right now and his deep experience crafting action in front of and behind the camera as well as his exceptional likability make him the perfect actor for this project.”
While release dates and additional casting are still under wraps, the combo of Quan’s comeback energy, Helander’s unrestrained directorial style, and a festive action-packed storyline could make this film an entertaining watch for genre fans.
