Google Launches AI-Enabled Pixel 8 And Pixel 8 Pro Phones

Google has announced the much-anticipated Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro!

The new lineup is embracing Artificial Intelligence (AI), with the feature built right at the centre of the phone for a more helpful and personal experience. The AI capabilities are mainly focused on the phones’ camera abilities.

For starters, the Pixel 8 Pro has been upgraded with a pro-level triple rear camera system that provides improved low-light photo-taking capabilities, sharper selfies, and Pixel’s best zoom and video yet. Videographers will be happy to hear that Pixel’s new Video Boost technology will deliver HDR+ and enhanced colour grading, and for the first time in a Pixel, Night Sight Video.

The Pixel 8 on the other hand, has an upgraded rear camera with advanced image processing and Macro Focus, where the smallest subjects can be captured.

Where AI really shines through though is in the phones’ editing tools. Both the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are fitted with AI features like Best Take creates a blended image from a series of photos to get the best look, Magic Editor in Google Photos which allows major photo edits without professional tools, and Audio Magic Eraser which reduces distracting sounds captured in videos.

The Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel 8 are powered by Google’s Tensor G3 chipset, promising responsive performance, power efficiency and crystal clear calls. Thanks to the Tensor G3, the Pixel Pro can also be used to get the temperature of beverages and cookware!

Pair the chipset with the Titan M2 security chip and both Pixel 8 phones will be able to use Face Unlock to do tasks like app sign-ins and payments and more. Google Assistant on the Pixel phones has received a boost too. Now, Assistant voice typing lets you write messages twice as fast with your voice and enables you to type, edit and send messages in multiple languages seamlessly.

The Pixel 8 Pro is crafted with a polished aluminium frame and matte back glass – a first for the Pro! It features a 6.7-inch Super Actua Display, Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and is IP68 protected. It comes in three colour options – Bay, Porcelain and Obsidian – and starts from S$1,549.
