Ghostwire: Tokyo, an action-adventure game with horror elements by Bethesda and Tango Softworks, has had a tumultuous development since it was first introduced to gamers in 2019.
Originally scheduled for release in 2021, the game sees its official release date slated for 25 March 2022. Gamers who pre-order the Digital Deluxe Edition able to access the game early on 22 March.
The game’s release date has not been officially announced but it seems that PlayStation themselves got ahead of the announcement.
Gamers can check out the official showcase of the game, premiering on 4 February, on PlayStation’s YouTube channel. Ghostwire: Tokyo is a PlayStation 5 exclusive and takes advantage of the next-gen console’s capabilities, including ray tracing and 3D audio technologies.
Pre-orders will include in-game bonus content as well, with a Shinobi Outfit, Kunai Weapon, and Streetwear Fashion Pack for players to don.
With the system’s SSD storage and high speed, loading times will be near zero. The action is also more immersive with the DualSense wireless controller, implementing the controller’s built-in audio capabilities to bring voices from the other side to the player, approximating a sort of ‘sixth sense’ to help detect things normally unperceivable to humans as they explore the haunted city.
The blend of an ultra-modern cityscape with traditional imageries such as shrines makes for an interesting supernatural atmosphere. Given the high-octane action and sharp art direction, it’s easily one of our most anticipated games of 2022.
