Geek Review: Oppo Reno10 Pro+ 5G

If you’ve been following smartphone technology, you would realise that the technology as plateaued, which means that camera quality and a sharp display suitable for mobile gaming or watching videos can now be found on even mid-range devices. So while it’s natural for users to gravitate towards big flagship models, the likes of the Oppo Reno10 Pro+ 5G is a pretty solid contender for those looking for a mid-range mobile phone that delivers and does not break the bank.

Video review by Bobby Tonelli.

At S$1,149, the Oppo Reno10 Pro+ 5G is the newest addition to Oppo’s mid-range devices. Available in glossy purple and silvery grey, the Reno10 Pro+ flaunts a 6.74-inch FHD+ AMOLED Curved Screen at 2772 × 1240 pixels, offering resolution of 450 pixels per inch, with a 120Hz Ultra Refresh Rate that supports HDR10+. This puts the Reno10 Pro+ in a high position when compared to a lot of other pseudo-flagship phones out there in the market.

But what takes it home for us, are the phone’s three main cameras, particularly the Pro-Level Telephoto Portrait Camera. The 64MP Pro-Level Telephoto Portrait Camera delivers high-quality portraits in low-light environments and has a natural optical bokeh effect with a shallow depth of field. Portraits can be shot from 0.6x on the Ultra Wide Camera, 1x on the Main Camera, and 3x or 6x on the Telephoto Portrait Camera and still not sacrifice detail and clarity.

Just look at these photos recently taken in Bali, and taken straight out of the phone with zero edits made:

The 50MP main camera has a 1/1.56-inch IMX890 sensor, f/1,8 aperture, OIS and All Pixel Omni-Direction PDAF, and lastly, a 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera, While we found no issues with the main camera, we do have some minor gripes with the 32MP front camera. Selfies are not as ultra-clear as we liked to be, especially since the phone does not provide 4K selfies. It’s strange especially since the phone is equipped with a flagship-level Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 Mobile Platform processor.

That said, we are still pretty blown away by what the Oppo Reno10 Pro+ 5G has to offer as a mid-range phone. The camera capabilities are fantastic and if you’re an avid photographer who loves taking portraits (and all the bokeh goodness) then this phone is worth checking out.

The Oppo Reno10 Pro+ 5G is available from 15 July on Oppo’s official online and concept stores, Lazada and Shopee.
