Heck yes, women! Marvel Studios’ The Marvels is putting three of Marvel’s strongest female heroes to the forefront, and with that comes some really cool movie premiums featuring Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel, Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel and Monica Rambeau.
Directed by Nia DaCosta – Marvel’s youngest director ever, and the first Black woman to helm one of its films – Marvel Studios’ The Marvels sees Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel reclaim her identity from the tyrannical Kree and take revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilised universe.
When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan, Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol’s estranged niece, now S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, this unlikely trio must team-up and learn to work in concert to save the universe as “The Marvels.”
Reprising the roles of Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel, and Monica Rambeau are Brie Larson, Iman Vellani, and Teyonah Parris respectively. They are also joined by Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Zawe Ashton as the Kree villain.
