In the series, the Targaryen civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons divides the realm into two factions. Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy), the named heir of King Viserys I (Paddy Considine), leads Team Black, advocating for the upholding of her father’s decree.
Meanwhile, Queen Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke), Viserys’ second wife, leads Team Green, believing that her eldest son, Aegon II (Tom Glynn-Carney), should inherit the throne. This succession dispute sparks a devastating war with far-reaching consequences for Westeros, ultimately shaping the events leading up to Game of Thrones.
