Gamescom 2023: ‘Dimension Shellshock’ DLC Turns Up The Heat Of Survival In ‘TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge’

While the world focuses on everything that’s new in the gaming world, there’s always the comfort of nostalgia to cherish as well, especially at an event like Gamescom 2023. Dotemu and Tribute GamesTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge certainly fall under that category, and with the Dimension Shellshock DLC, things are about to get even more crazy and fun.

Taking the combat that makes the base game so enjoyable, the developers have doubled down on it, delivering a survival mode that allows for repetition without boredom, something that we had the pleasure of experiencing during an early preview of Dimension Shellshock.

With Karai and Usagi joining the ranks, players can choose from a healthy variety of fighters to take into the new mode, fighting off waves and waves of varying enemies to collect precious crystals. In between levels, players have the opportunity to pick powerful perks and mutations, such as health-restoring pizza or modifiers that can make things tougher but more rewarding. Perhaps the best bonus is one that transforms a random player into a powerful baddie, such as Shredder, able to flip the script and enjoy the power trip.

Although the action is heavy in Dimension Shellshock, players will do well to take in the sights seen in the randomised levels and environments, as there were plenty of Easter Eggs to be found for those with sharp eyes. The quality of the animations and visuals are also present in all the characters that can form a team to take on the challenge.

And depending on your team’s proficiency, crystals earned will contribute to an overall collection, leading to unlocks that can be permanent stat buffs, more colour palettes for characters, and more. Whether you win or lose, with the latter more likely the case, there is always progress being made, which only serves to extend the longevity of the survival mode.

The lack of more meaningful story content may disappoint some, but the arrival of the Dimension Shellshock DLC for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge is one to savour, especially for those who just love bashing skulls as the heroes in a half shell and more. The additional colours allow for more customisation, but ultimately, it is the combat that gets to shine, and a survival mode is a perfect tonic for the invested community.

The Dimension Shellshock DLC will launch on 31 August.
