Free Apple App Schoolwork Now Available For Teachers As iOS 12 Beta Goes Live

With Apple’s influence on the tech industry, it’s respectable that the industry giant has ventured into the education sector to make the learning process easier and more enjoyable for all parties involved.

The recently-introduced app Schoolwork was designed with that in mind. First announced in March 2018, the free-to-use app has now opened its doors to teachers, allowing for increased efficiency of creating assignments, one-on-one collaboration with students, and the tracking of student progress via an iPad. It can be paired with Apple’s Classroom app as well, turning the duo into a versatile teaching assistant, which means users will be able to get more out of the technology used in the classroom everyday. A slight upgrade on Apple’s part sees the latter being newly implemented into the Mac too.

Supported educational apps within Schoolwork include Explain Everything, Tynker, GeoGebra, and Kahoot!, among others, where students can be guided directly to a challenge or lesson through the allocation of specific tasks and activities.

Accompanying the app launch for teachers is the public beta for the upcoming iOS 12, brought to the world’s attention during Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2018. With no other groundbreaking news in the lineup, the announcement comes across as a sufficiently significant one, focusing on bringing new AR features, photo improvements, and boosted performance (Read more about iOS 12 from our WWDC coverage!).

The public beta of iOS 12 is now available for download, but do remember to back up your device before trying it out, in the unlikely case of a corrupt install, or to do so on a secondary device. An Apple ID is needed for the sign-up process, and more information can be found at the Q&A session on the website.
