First Looks: Max Reveals ‘Welcome to Derry’ Eerie Teaser For ‘It’ Prequel

Warner Bros. Discovery has tantalised fans with a sizzle reel showcasing its 2024 slate of shows, including True Detective, Colin Farrell’s The Penguin series, and House of the Dragon season 2.

The reel also premiered a teaser for the It prequel series, tentatively titled Welcome to Derry, set to debut in 2025. This Max original series delves into Stephen King’s It universe, expanding on the vision of filmmaker Andy Muschietti and his producing partner Barbara Muschietti from the It films.

The brief but intriguing teaser, part of Max’s The One to Watch In 2024 trailer, offers glimpses reminiscent of the novel’s earlier adaptations, including the eerie red balloon.

Directed by Muschietti, the series features a cast including Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, Taylour Paige, James Remar, Stephen Rider, and Madeleine Stowe. Muschietti is set to direct multiple episodes, with Jason Fuchs and Brad Caleb Kane as co-showrunners.

Welcome to Derry teases the town of Derry, Maine, where a new group of young protagonists encounters the ominous red balloon, symbolising the malevolent entity lurking in the town’s sewers. The narrative, set decades before the events of It, is expected to explore strange occurrences in Derry, potentially set in the ’50s, in line with the novel’s original timeline.

As fans await the official synopsis, Welcome to Derry: From the World of IT promises to be a captivating addition to the It saga, bringing to life the eerie history of Derry in a new, chilling format in 2025.
