The PS5 and Xbox Series X may be a short few months away from hopefully launching the next-generation of consoles, but without games, the consoles would be nothing. One of those titles is Daedalic Entertainment‘s Lord of the Rings: Gollum. Currently scheduled for a 2021 launch, we now have our first looks at what the game would look like.
In screenshots from a Gamestar exclusive, we are able to see a Gollum that is supposedly not based on Peter Jackson’s movie. However, the differences are definitely not as stark. Rather than a more realistic take on Middle-Earth, the game is taking a slightly more cartoon-like angle.
We see plenty of Mordor, as well as a hint of the lush environment that are in parts of the fantasy world. With Lord of the Rings: Gollum being a stealth-action title, the screenshots also show that in action. Gollum will also have a branching decision making system, governed by the dual personalities that drive the creature.
Based off the works of Tolkien’s books, we can expect to see more of Lord of the Rings: Gollum as we march closer to next-generation hardware. In fact, an Inside Xbox livestream is scheduled for 7 May that will unveil more third-party games for the Xbox Series X aside from Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
