It’s a double-anniversary celebration for Final Fantasy VII Revelation. 30 years after the release of the original and a decade after Final Fantasy VII Remake, the third and final chapter in Square Enix’s remake trilogy will debut on 8 April 2027, firming up the previously revealed Spring 2027 window.
The announcement was part of a larger gameplay presentation at Sony’s State of Play livestream, primarily focused on Yuffie and new playable characters Cid and Vincent, exploration on Cid’s airship, the Highwind, the Function-Integrated Tactical Suitwear (or the FITS) System that allows for customisation of play styles with outfits imbued with unique move sets, and a character-switching feature to swap between party members while traversing the world. The title will also introduce a grappling gun for navigation, a major new storyline for the Queen’s Blood minigame, and the ability to choose which character to take on certain quests, which affects how specific story events and gameplay scenarios unfold.

As the cherry on top, Final Fantasy VII Revelation is getting two expansions post-launch featuring two fan favourites: Sephiroth and Vincent. Additional details, such as pricing and story content, were not shared, but they are scheduled for release over the following 12 months.
Wrapping up Cloud’s journey with a bang is a physical Collector’s Edition (US$349.99), delivering on director Naoki Hamaguchi’s wish to avoid a digital-only release. In addition to the pair of DLCs, fans can expect a special Magic: The Gathering promo card, hardback artbook, a mini-soundtrack CD, a statue featuring Cloud, Zack, and Sephiroth, an exclusive steelbook case, the game itself with a reversible cover sleeve, and the following digital content:
- Nymphwing Bracelet armour
- Risk Taker’s Choker accessory
- Polydroid Alexander summoning materia
- Reclaimant Choker and Survival Set
- Mecha-Chocobo & Moogle summoning materia
There’s also a Premium Edition, comprising the main game, Story Expansion Pass, and 24-hour early access, as well as the Reclaimant Choker and Survival Set and a set of consumable items to support the early stages of the journey. Meanwhile, the Premium Plus Edition includes all of that, alongside a digital art book, a digital mini soundtrack, the Polydroid Alexander Summon Materia, an in-game armour (Nymphwing Bracelet), and an in-game accessory (Risk Taker’s Choker).
Final Fantasy VII Revelation launches on 8 April 2027 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
