Fourteen years after causing a bloody splash in theatres, Final Destination promises to leave more unsettling omens and deaths in its trail. Warner Bros. has unveiled the first trailer for Final Destination: Bloodlines, the newest addition to the long-running horror franchise, and it certainly holds nothing back in the gore department.
Released just in time for the series’ 25th anniversary, it ditches the conventional presentation of a teaser trailer for a gnarly two-minute killing scene. A tattoo artist is seen giving a painful tongue piercing to a client before inking himself up, but an unfortunate chain of events soon follows as he continues to work, as a chain falls from the ceiling, attaches itself to the man’s nose ring, gets tangled around a fan, and pulls him by the nose. Then, a fire breaks out under him and he’s dropped right into the flames as the ceiling fan crashes. Ouch.
“The newest chapter in New Line Cinema’s bloody successful franchise takes audiences back to the very beginning of Death’s twisted sense of justice,” reads the official description for the trailer. “Plagued by a violent recurring nightmare, college student Stephanie heads home to track down the one person who might be able to break the cycle and save her family from the grisly demise that inevitably awaits them all.”
Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein, who previously worked on Kim Possible, are directing the upcoming film, marking their first foray into the series. Led by Kaitlyn Santa Juana (The Flash), the cast includes Teo Briones (Chucky), Richard Harmon (The 100), Owen Patrick Joyner (Julie and the Phantoms), Rya Kihlstedt (Obi-Wan Kenobi), Anna Lore (Gotham Knights), Brec Bassinger (Stargirl), and the late Tony Todd (Candyman).

It’s unclear whether Final Destination: Bloodlines will be a direct sequel to previous titles or an all-around reboot, but it serves as the sixth instalment in the franchise, which kicked off in 2000. While plot specifics differ, all of the titles are set around the premise of a small group of people who escape impending death after being forewarned by an individual, only to be killed one by one in bizarre accidents caused by an unseen force by creating complicated chains of cause and effect.
Final Destination: Bloodlines is slated for theatrical release on 16 May 2025.
