Fanmade ‘Attack on Titan’ Game With Over 10 Million Downloads Is Getting Unreal Engine 5 Revamp

Navigating through the city with the 3D Maneuver Gear and slaying titans was one of the many appeals of watching the Attack on Titan series, but even its official video games didn’t manage to fully capture the speed and scale of the action. Here’s where indie developer Swammy comes in with his little passion project, which he has released for free.

The fanmade title started out as a fun experiment in 2021, and later evolved into a full-fledged game after receiving overwhelmingly positive feedback on TikTok. Highly reminiscent of the recent Spider-Man games, it features smooth swinging movement, PvE combat against Titans, sandbox elements, both a first- and third-person camera, and even a co-op multiplayer mode.

Swammy’s project has over 10 million downloads and plenty of views on social media to date, with more to come — it’ll be getting a revamp, as he tries to port it over to Unreal Engine 5. The detailed breakdown of it may be viewed below:

The Attack on Titan game is available to play on both PC and Android, with only the PC build getting the graphical upgrade. It’s pretty rough around the edges, so don’t expect any game-changing visuals or gameplay, but considering how this is a one-man job, the whole affair is pretty cool.

If the anime genre is more to your taste, then there’s also Attack On Titan Final Season Part 3 to look forward to. That’s going to take a while, though, as it’s currently slated to premiere sometime in 2023.
