’80s kids will always remember the beloved ThunderCats 1985 TV series, and watching the opening sequence never fails to bring a smile to the inner geek in all of us, even till this day. And with the 2020 reboot, ThunderCats Roar, fans have been mortified at the new direction for the franchise.
Enter long-time fan Mike Booth who picked up learning how to use open-source 3D animation software, Blender, just earlier this year.
His love for the ThunderCats drove him to challenge himself to recreate the intro sequence using Blender to create the base models of each of the ThunderCats. With VFX done using Adobe After Effects, and edited in Adobe Premiere Pro. He has hundreds of tutorials done by YouTubers to thank for enabling him to achieve what he did within such a short period of time.
Now re-watch his remake again, side-by-side with the original intro sequence:
Yonk is a geek who is fortunate enough to have an equally geeky Star Wars fan for a wife, who owns a LEGO Millennium Falcon encased in a glass coffee table as their home’s centre-piece.
