Another year, another massive Gamescom event, and this year, Geoff Keighley took to the stage once more for the Opening Night Live showcase, delivering all kinds of gaming reveals, including massive AAA titles like Metro 2039, indie darlings like Lofsöng, highly anticipated updates for Crimson Desert and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and everything in between. Here’s everything announced at Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026:
Nodus Fall
Marking the next fantasy RPG by HoYoverse, Nodus Fall sports a more realistic and mature art style compared to the studio’s past games like Genshin Impact and Zenless Zone Zero, with the trailer giving Elden Ring and Monster Hunter vibes as it shows players teaming up to face towering bosses.
Rainbow Six Tactics
Rainbow Six is going full XCOM, as the latest title in the long-running tactical shooter franchise, Rainbow Six Tactics, takes the series to a brand-new genre with its single-player, turn-based gameplay that sees players commanding a squad of operators as they embark on missions around the globe. The game is due out in 2027 for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Gears of War E-Day
Gears of War E-Day is about to emerge on 6 October 2026, but before that, the game has shown off the first look at its campaign, giving more insight into not just its narrative, but also the Locust leader behind the invasion. Give ’em hell, Fenix.
Ananta
NetEase has announced its latest open-world free-to-play RPG, Ananta, which sees players take on the role of a member of the ADC as they take on missions while also engaging in city life. The game will be released on 15 January 2027.
Silent Hill Townfall
It’s time to return to another foggy town, as Silent Hill Townfall’s latest trailer shows off more of its story, alongside revealing its English voice cast, which includes Terry O’Quinn (Lost), Jovan Adepo (3 Body Problem), and Kezia Burrows (Observation). The game is out soon on 24 September 2026.
Crimson Desert Enhanced
Crimson Desert is the gift that keeps on giving, as the massive RPG is receiving yet another piece of post-launch content, this time expanding on the game with new story moments, enhanced voice-over, and improved language support. Best of all, this will all come as a free update for all owners of the base game.
Tides of Annihilation
The latest trailer for Tides of Annihilation shows off Angela Sant’Albano, who played Grace Ashcroft in Resident Evil Requiem, as the new voice actress for its protagonist, Gwendolyn. The trailer unveils more of the game’s fantasy narrative, alongside the first look at the legendary Sir Lancelot, who Gwendolyn can summon in battle to assist her.
Lofsöng
Lofsöng is an upcoming indie title from Italy which gives off a similar vibe to games like INSIDE and LIMBO, featuring mind-bending puzzles and a gorgeous black-and-white aesthetic.
Mega Man Dual Override
Mega Man Dual Override’s latest gameplay trailer shows off more classic platforming action, new suits and power-ups, alongside some of the bosses players will be facing. The trailer also ended with a tease of the upcoming skins coming to Capcom’s other sci-fi game, Pragmata, which includes a new dress for Diana and a nightmare-fueled Mega Man cosplay suit for Hugh. The game is due for release in 2027.
Rayman Legends Retold
The latest trailer for Ubisoft’s upcoming remake introduces a new musical stage, the fan-favourite game mode from the original, this time featuring the iconic Macarena. Rayman Legends Retold releases on 1 October 2026.
PUBG DED.NET
As its name suggests, PUBG DED.NET marks Krafton’s next game set in its Battle Royale shooter universe, and will be a PvP multiplayer FPS set in a fictional wilderness in the American Pacific Northwest.
Game of Thrones: War of the Westeros
War of the Westeros is an upcoming strategy game set in the Game of Thrones universe, which features an RTS take on the IP similar to titles like Age of Empires, as players command the armies of the various Houses, or even the Night Walkers. The game is due out in 2027.
DUST: Origins
Airship Syndicate is back with another isometric action game following 2019’s Darksiders: Genesis with DUST: Origins. The game will take place in the depths of a prison and sees players taking on a range of mutants with both ranged and melee combat.
Exodus
The Mass Effect-like third-person sci-fi shooter Exodus has finally received its release date of 7 April 2027, with its latest trailer shining the spotlight on one of the game’s many companions, Salt, a talking octopus that pilots a giant mech suit. Despite her adorable appearance, Salt is a hardened mercenary with a tragic past and looks to be a force on the battlefield.
Warlock: Dungeons and Dragons
Wizards of the Coast’s upcoming action-adventure Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons has received its first extended gameplay trailer, which sees its protagonist, Kaatri, using a mix of magic and swords in combat, alongside using a variety of spells to unlock new paths during exploration. The game is due for release in 2027.
1001 Threads of Mizan
Inspired by 1001 Arabian Nights, 1001 Threads of Mizan is a 1-3 player co-op title featuring flying carpets and colossal boss fights, as players take to the skies in teams to take down enemies with flashy magical combat.
Metro 2039
4A Games has dropped a new gameplay trailer for its upcoming post-apocalyptic FPS sequel, Metro 2039, which sees a return to the dark and claustrophobic depths of the metro. As the new protagonist, The Stranger, players must once again use a mix of stealth and combat to take on both human and mutant foes, all while facing supernatural horrors. The game will be released in February 2027.
Stage Tour
Guitar Hero is back… sort of, as Stage Tour brings back the rhythm game genre with over 180 instruments and 90 tracks from artists like Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Bring Me the Horizon, and Muse. The game will be released on 10 December 2026.
Crazy Taxi World Tour
Crazy Taxi World Tour marks the revival of the classic arcade game franchise, and its new trailer showcases the title’s multiplayer component, with players taking on fares and causing chaos with their friends in co-op. The game is due out in 2027.
Turok: Origins
Saber Interactive’s upcoming co-op dinosaur shooter Turok: Origins has been delayed to Spring 2027, although the game has received another trailer showcasing its gameplay mix of first-person and third-person shooting.
Gravhounds
Independent developer and publisher Octopus Panic has dropped the first look at its upcoming co-op shooter, Gravhounds, which sees players take on the role of anthropomorphic soldiers as they build structures and engage in physics-driven mayhem. The game will be out in Early Access on 2 November 2026.
Path of Exile 2 1.0
Grinding Gear Games’ free-to-play action RPG Path of Exile 2 is finally coming out of Early Access on 11 December 2026, adding its remaining campaign acts alongside the debut of a new class, the sword-focused Duelist.
Heroes of Might and Magic 3 Remake
Ubisoft is bringing back a turn-based strategy classic, as Heroes of Might and Magic 3 Remake will bring not just the base game, but also its two expansions to the modern era with a graphical overhaul.
No Law
Neon Giant’s cyberpunk open-world FPS No Law has received its latest gameplay trailer, showcasing the variety of ways players can deal with threats, including stealth, violent gunplay, hacking, and even attaching a grenade to a Roomba. The game will arrive in 2027.
Ontos
As a spiritual successor to the sci-fi horror game SOMA, Frictional Games’ Ontos will see players coming across horrific experiments gone wrong, one of which sees the consciousness of an unlucky individual being transferred into a server of rats.
Pony Island 2: Panda Circus
Pony Island 2: Panda Circus marks the sequel to Daniel Mullins Games’ 2019 metafictional puzzle game and showcases an intriguing blend of 3D gameplay, 2D platforming, and even some live-action segments. The game will arrive on 27 April 2027.
Zoopunk
If Zoopunk’s anthropomorphic bunny hero looked familiar, that’s because it’s set in the same universe as TiGame’s previous title, the 2021 Metroidvania F.I.S.T.: Forged In Shadow Torch. Instead of platforming, however, this time it’s all about the action, as players will take on the role of a ragtag team comprising a bunny, a rhino, and a squirrel, each with their own combat styles and abilities.
There Are No Ghosts at the Grand
There Are No Ghosts at the Grand is a story-based restoration game that sees players renovating buildings à la House Flipper, except this time, there’s a supernatural twist, as players will investigate and hunt ghosts when night falls. The game will be released in Early Access in December 2026.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation
Saving the biggest reveals for last, the third and final chapter of Square Enix’s Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy, Final Fantasy VII Revelation, has landed a new trailer, which showcases its new Summon, Typhon, alongside a deeper look at exploration thanks to a new parachute, grappling hook and more Chocobo mounts. The game will be arriving in Spring 2027.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered + Songs of the Past
Closing off the showcase was a double trailer drop from CD Projekt Red. The studio’s upcoming sequel, The Witcher 4, might not have made an appearance, but its predecessor, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, will still be receiving some love in the form of a remastered edition, which brings all sorts of improvements surrounding combat, traversal, and graphics, and will be free for all owners of the base game when it launches on 29 September 2026. Additionally, more footage was shown of the game’s upcoming third expansion, Songs of the Past, which is set to arrive in 2027.
