Dying Light 2 Studio Techland Teases New RPG Helmed By The Dream Team

Dying Light 2 is set to receive more support and content in the coming years, but that doesn’t mean the game’s developers will be sitting on their haunches till then. Polish studio Techland has announced a new RPG in the works, along with a first look at a piece of concept art.

The game, which doesn’t have a title yet, is officially being described as a “AAA open-world action-RPG in a fantasy setting,” which certainly seems to be reflected in the revealed image unveiled as a way to let developers know that Techland is currently hiring. In it, luscious scenery, dilapidated ancient ruins, and alluring waterfalls can be seen in all their glory.

More notably, the project is already being led by an impressive list of industry veterans. Karolina Stachyra and Arkadiusz Borowik, both of whom had previously worked on The Witcher 2 and 3, will be serving as narrative director and narrative lead respectively. Mario Maltezos, whose credits include Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, has been tapped to be creative director, while Bartosz Ochman, known for working on Cyberpunk 2077, comes onboard as open-world director. The lead game designer is Deathloop‘s David Mcclure, with Horizon Zero Dawn staff Kevin Quaid taking the role of lead animator.

“Our ambition is to introduce a brand new IP that is vastly different from what we have been doing for the past several years. We want to create a fully next-gen experience,” Techland CEO Paweł Marchewka said of the RPG project. “A new fantasy epic set in a sprawling open world, fueled by the skills and experience we have gained as a team over the years, infused with new ideas, passion, and creativity.”

The man later went on to say, “While we cannot share more details about this project now, we’re all truly invested in it and looking forward to showing it to gamers when the time is right.”

There may not be much to go on right now, but if the concept art is any indicator, we can expect the untitled RPG to be quite the looker. No release date has been announced as of yet.
