The spice is set to flow in Funcom‘s retelling of the Dune universe, and it will embrace the experience entirely. Following a previous release date announcement for Dune: Awakening, the Norwegian studio has confirmed that the multiplayer survival title is eschewing early access for a full launch on 20 May, with an update detailing its business model, post-launch plans, special editions, and more.

Instead of adopting a monthly subscription model, a common practice for its genre, the upcoming massive multiplayer online (MMO) game will be expanded through free updates with content and features, alongside “optional DLCs”, meaning there won’t be a paywall before players finish the main story.
As for the various editions, the standard option is priced at US$49.99 / S$64.90, while the Deluxe Edition retails for US$69.99 / S$89.90. The latter includes a five-day headstart, several unique items, a Season Pass that unlocks four DLCs over time — with the first available at launch — and the armour of the Sardaukar.
The Ultimate Edition (US$89.99 / S$115.90), meanwhile, bundles in all of that, plus Paul Atreides’ iconic stillsuit from Denis Villeneuve’s 2021 film, a digital artbook, a digital soundtrack, unique colour patterns, and the Caladan Palace Set featuring building pieces, placeables, and decorations.
Pre-orders for all editions are now open, rewarding players with a universal colour pattern that can be applied to vehicles, weapons, and armour, as well as the Terrarium of Muad’Dib, an in-base decoration housing the iconic desert mouse.
