‘Dragon Age: The Veilguard’ Teases Morrigan’s Return In Oct 2024

It’s always nice to see a familiar face when an existing franchise embarks on another adventure with a new crew. In the case of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, the latest mainline entry in BioWare’s popular RPG series, fans can expect to catch Morrigan in the flesh, as teased in a new release date trailer for the game.

The full-on clip features plenty of fantasy action, from elven mage Solas conducting a ritual that ends up being interrupted and the looming battle between corrupt gods to epic fights against a dragon or two, naturally. It also showcases a hint of the signature Dragon Age romance, with publisher Electronic Arts, or EA for short, describing the upcoming title as follows:

“In this bold, heroic adventure, players will experience expansive and dynamic stories that navigate love, loss and complex choices that affect relationships and the fate of each member of the Veilguard. In true Dragon Age fashion, these bonds of fellowship are the foundation upon which Rook’s journey is built, and it will be up to the player to determine how their personal story unfolds.”

Dragon Age: The Veilguard Morrigan Return Oct 2024

Per the trailer, Dragon Age: The Veilguard is releasing 31 October, joining an already stacked month that includes Silent Hill 2, Metaphor: ReFantazio, Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, and Life is Strange: Double Exposure. A “high-level combat and PC spotlight” and “Companions Week” showcase will follow on the week of 26 August, promising more information for players.

Morrigan was last seen in Inquisition as the occult advisor to Empress Celene. While a non-playable companion, she would travel to the player’s base in Skyhold and depending on the choices made in Origins, may occasionally bring her son along. The fan-favourite looks a little different here, though, wearing what seems to be her mother Flemeth’s crown, which for those in the know, probably isn’t a good thing.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard has been a long time coming. After an initial announcement in 2018, it was later revealed to have the title of Dreadwolf, receiving its first official trailer earlier this year. A fall 2024 release window was confirmed at the time, with the name change intended to place more emphasis on the party of protagonists instead of Solas, otherwise known as the Dreadwolf.

Since then, BioWare has given some idea of what’s to come. Marking a departure from franchise DNA, the game will feature over 140,000 lines of dialogue, customisable difficulty options, the ability to import choices made in previous titles, and more.
