Disney’s Unreleased Lorcana TCG Has A D23 Exclusive Card That’s Resold From US$500

With the upcoming launch of Disney’s new trading card game (TCG), Disney Lorcana, folks who visited the D23 Expo were handed an exclusive convention “Mickey Mouse Brave Little Tailor” Card. And, sure enough, it’s now being flipped on eBay.

A tale as old as time, we should expect such a phenomenon to happy given the history of similar games like Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon, and Yu-Gi-Oh.

At the D23 Expo, Ravensburger, the publisher of Disney Lorcana, announced their first set of cards titled – Disney Lorcana: The First Chapter. These sets of cards are full foil cards and it’s release is reminiscent of Magic: The Gathering’s Secret Lair releases.

The first seven Disney Lorcana: The First Chapter features Maleficent, Captain Hook, Elsa, Cruella De Vil, Robin Hood, and Stitch.

The cards and art look amazing and reveal a bit of the gameplay mechanics of the upcoming card game. We have the card’s casting cost at the top left but the symbols at the bottom right seem to be pen quills which might represent another game mechanic.

This full collector’s set is currently being sold at the D23 Expo for US$49.95.

However, the real meaty card that most are looking to get their hands on is the convention-exclusive Mickey Mouse, Brave Little Tailor card. It’s the same one that’s being flipped above on eBay.

The only issue here with trading card games is how much Disney and Ravensburger is looking to invest into the system. It needs to have a multi-year approach before the game hits critical mass. For anyone who had played Disney Infinity would remember that the game which featured collectible figurines ultimately fizzled out after 3 years of support.
