DC FanDome: Black Adam Teasers Reveal Origins And Introduces The Justice Society Of America

It’s been 5000 years since his imprisonment and now, the anti-hero is free and back to mete out his own hard-handed brand of justice to the world. The DC FanDome panel for Black Adam today featured Dwyane Johnson, who plays the titular character himself, answering some important fans questions. The panel presented the concept art of what fans can expect from the movie including Black Adam’s costume and the Justice Society of America (JSA).

In a teaser released during the panel, we got an insight into the origins of the anti-hero from the fictional nation of Kahndaq. The teaser was created by the DC legend, Jim Lee in partnership with BossLogic (@Bosslogic). It features Black Adam’s origins as a slave, who despite gaining powers felt burdened and weighed down by a larger entity. We even caught a glimpse of Black Adam’s imprisonment by the ancient Egyptian wizard, Shazam.

His past explained his different mana (as phrased by Johnson) and why he ruthlessly doles out justice to people who harm his loved ones. The Shazam spin-off will be directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (The Commuter) who had previously worked with Johson on Disney’s Jungle Cruise.

Fans have also been hyped about the possibility that JSA will play a significant role in the film. Many have been wondering who would make it the big screen. During the panel, it was revealed that not only will we be meeting Atom Smasher next December, but we will also be seeing other members such as Hawkman. Dr. Fate, and Cyclone.

Moreover, Noah Centineo who will play Atom Smasher gave a brief appearance to challenge Dwayne Johnson’s “Squat Game” and talk about his training regime for his upcoming role. He hinted that Atom Smasher may even grow to the size of a skyscraper in the movie. And won’t that be fun to see especially in comparison to how tiny the all-powerful Black Adam gets standing beside him?

While Johnson only confirmed that a Black Adam movie is in the works back in November 2019, the actor has in fact been linked to the role for years. He even posted about it way back in 2014.

Fans have waited years for and Black Adam himself has waited for 5000 years. We are glad to see that the end is near as the movie is slated for release on 22 December 2021. Hopefully there won’t be any delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Johnson ends off by sending a message befitting of the anti-hero to the Justice League. He warns that things will never be the same as the hierarchy of power in the DC Universe is about to change.
