The first-ever Hellraiser game is in development, as Saber Interactive and Boss Team Games have dropped a reveal trailer for Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival, an upcoming single-player survival horror game featuring the four iconic Cenobites: Deep Throat, Butterball, Chatterer, and actor Doug Bradley’s return as the legendary Pinhead.
The minute-and-a-half-long trailer offers a mix of cinematics and gameplay, showcasing brutal first-person combat using what seems to be Cenobite powers, and of course, features the iconic puzzle box from the series, which is known as the Genesis Configuration in the game, a mystical device that acts as a door to another dimension.
“Discover the tale of Aidan, who must unlock the dark powers of the Genesis Configuration, a mysterious puzzle box, to help his girlfriend from a hellish abyss,” reads the game’s official blurb. “As Aidan, you’ll harness the box’s infernal abilities to survive your pact with the sinister Pinhead and battle against the twisted cult that worships him and the Cenobites. Fail, and your suffering will be legendary, even in Hell. We have such sights to show you…”

Hellraiser is a British-American horror media franchise based on the novella The Hellbound Heart by English author Clive Barker, which spans eleven films since 1987, each centred around the Cenobites, extra-dimensional beings summoned when humans solve the puzzle boxes, taking them back to their dimension for torturous experiments to push the boundaries of the physical experience. Perhaps the most well-known Cenobite is Pinhead, the leader and main antagonist of most of the franchise, who was portrayed by legendary actor Doug Bradley in eight films from 1987 to 2005. The game is set to feature the 70-year-old’s return to the role after two decades, making it an even more momentous occasion.
The upcoming title marks the first dedicated game adaptation from the franchise, although Pinhead has previously made a cameo in other horror games such as 2016’s Dead by Daylight. “Working on the first true Hellraiser game has been a venture deep into the recesses of my darkest imaginings,” said Barker, who guided the team during the game’s development.

“[Saber and Boss Team Games have] immersed themselves in the Hellraiser universe, capturing its essence—the seductive pull of suffering, the beauty within the grotesque—and forged a narrative that invites players to step beyond the threshold. I’m eager for both the curious and the damned to experience this new chapter in the Hellraiser mythos, where every moment balances on the brink of nightmare and revelation.”
Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival will release at an unspecified date on the PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
