Change Your Perspective With LG V40 ThinQ’s Five Cameras

Phone cameras are important.

No, scratch that. They are incredibly important.

With today’s generation focused on being social media storytellers, communicating with their photos and videos, we have reached a point where no meal is complete without a shot of a delicious plate of food, no holiday wrapped without a selfie as proof. Phone developers have not missed out on this rising trend, with phone companies releasing phones equipped with not just one or two, but sometimes four cameras.

In comes LG with the LG V40 ThinQ, which, according to them, will ‘redefine the standard of smartphone photography’ with its five cameras – two at the front and three in the back.

Aside from its cameras, the V40 ThinQ boasts a 6.4-inch FullVision OLED display with slim bezels. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform, the V40 ThinQ is paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

As mentioned, the LG V40 ThinQ has a rear camera module with three different lenses — a 16MP super wide-angle, a 12MP standard angle and a 12MP telephoto. These three lenses allow shutterbugs to snap their perfect shot without having to move around too much. The camera also comes with a convenient Triple Shot function which stitches the photos from the three different lenses into one video file, making it easier to be shared.

Avid selfie-takers will also have fun with the two front camera lenses — a 5MP wide-angle, and an 8MP standard angle lens. These two lenses work together to help create that highly desired bokeh effect, while an on-screen slider lets you adjust the amount of background blur giving you a portrait mode effect.

For photo-takers who want something a little more interesting, who would like a chance to show a little more creativity, the LG V40 ThinQ has new interesting features such as the Cine Shot and Story Shot.

As you can guess from its name, the Cine Shot can be used to create cinemagraphs — still images which contain elements of movement. To create a cinemagraph on the V40 ThinQ, simply take a short video and ‘paint’ over the area you wish to remain animated.

The Story Shot allows users to create interesting composite images. They just have to select an image or take a new one, and that will serve as the backdrop to the image. Then all they have to do is take a selfie over a backdrop and the phone will superimpose them onto the backdrop.

Thus, in a world where smartphones are being increasingly similar, the LG V40 ThinQ is able to stand out from the crowd with its distinctive camera system.

With tempered glass backings all the rage in smartphones now, it is little wonder why the LG V40 ThinQ chose to go with it too. It is a little different from the rest however as the tempered glass backing has undergone a Silky Blast process which gives the phone a matte finishing. The phone also retains its slim and light design, a signature of the V series, measuring in at a thin 7.7mm and weighing only 169g.

The LG V40 ThinQ will be available in Singapore from January 26, 2019, in three colours: Platinum Grey, Moroccan Blue, and Carmine Red. It will be priced at S$1.098 and will be available for purchase at M1, Singtel, and Starhub. Those who purchase a unit from January 26 to February 22 will also receive a complimentary LG W7 Watch in Silver (worth S$598).
