CD Projekt Red's 'The Witcher 4' Officially Enters Pre-Production

CD Projekt Red To Focus On ‘The Witcher 4’ After Final & Only ‘Cyberpunk 2077’ DLC Release

Cyberpunk 2077’s one and only DLC Phantom Liberty is nearly upon us, and we now know what the game’s developer CD Projekt Red is setting their sights on next: The Witcher 4.

An interview with CD Projekt Red’s CEO Adam Kiciński revealed that “a big part of the team” will be transferred to work on the first of three major titles for the new Witcher saga once the Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty expansion is released on 26 September 2023. The title, dubbed ‘Polaris’, already has around 250 developers working on it.

CDPR focuses development on The Witcher 4

Polaris is just one of many games CDPR has in its production pipeline. A separate full-fledged game set in The Witcher universe codenamed ‘Sirius’, a new IP dubbed ‘Hadar’, and 3 other titles were announced on Twitter as the studio sets its eyes on the future.  Kiciński assured fans that although a shift of development focus is present amidst internal layoffs, support for Cyberpunk 2077 and its new DLC will still be present.

It is too early to discuss release dates and additional information on the new and early CDPR titles, especially The Witcher 4. The studio is known to reveal more substantial information on their games “only when it’s ready.”. Instead, gamers can visit Night City with a fresh perspective through Cyberpunk 2077’s new lone expansion.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is available only on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The expansion features countless new ways to play the game, familiar faces, and a compelling narrative with Idris Alba in the hot seat.
