Blade Runner Novels To Expand Universe

With Denis Villeneuve’s Blade Runner 2049 spectacular visuals and general positive reception (US$259.2 million worldwide), the futuristic and dystopian world that sprung from Philip K. Dick’s novel, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? appears to be ripe for more fiction to be spun from it.

And that is exactly what the Alcon Media Group is banking on, as their newly minted partnership with Titan Publishing on a co-publishing venture will be focused on the Blade Runner universe. Alcon’s co-CEOS Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson, along with Titan’s co-founders Nick Landau and Vivian Cheung laid out their vision for the venture.

In partnering with the exceptional Titan Comics and Titan Books, we’re confident that the world of ‘Blade Runner’ will continue to organically grow in a way that refuses to sacrifice the quality, tone, and high standards of this beloved property.

The editors responsible for ensuring everything is up to snuff are Alcon’s director of publishing, Jeff Conner, and Titan’s David Manley-Leach.

Both fiction and non-fiction print media, together with comic books and graphic novels, will bring readers deeper into the world of Blade Runner, and for those more interested in the workings behind bringing the world to life on the big screen, a selection of publications with focus on visual and technical aspects of the production process will also be produced.

We are extremely excited to be publishing ‘Blade Runner’ comics and illustrated books. The ‘Blade Runner’ universe has barely been explored; there is so much more there. It’s an honour to be bringing this world to life in new ways for a new audience — and to reveal tales from that universe that you’ve never seen before.

For those who are not aware, Titan Publishing is not new to such partnerships, having produced several Doctor Who publications as well as tie-ins for both DC and Marvel universes, not to mention their own line of original genre novels that cover a wide variety of subject matters.
