Black Panther’s Letitia Wright Hints At Shuri’s MCU Return

Letitia Wright, recognised for her role as Shuri in Black Panther and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, hinted at the possibility of her character’s return in future Marvel projects during her recent appearance on The View. “Let’s just say… I would like to continue with Shuri,” Wright said. “She’s one of my favourite characters. Such a blessing, honestly. I kid you not. I’m so grateful for her.”

While promoting the documentary Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot, Wright engaged in a discussion about her ongoing involvement with the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Amid speculation about upcoming Avengers films and potential new entries in the Black Panther saga, Wright teased, “There’s a lot to, a lot to — a lot coming up,” suggesting her readiness to reprise her role as the Wakandan tech genius.

Wright spoke fondly of her experiences within the MCU, particularly reflecting on the influence of the late Chadwick Boseman, her co-star in the Black Panther franchise. She shared how Boseman’s resilience inspired her to persevere through challenges, including a serious accident on the set of the sequel. “I thought a lot about his perseverance and his relentlessness just to keep going no matter what life was throwing at him, and I just thought, like, ‘If my brother could make it, you know, I can get back on set and finish the job.’ So, I just carried that panther spirit with me,” Wright recounted.

Marvel Studios has not yet confirmed a third Black Panther film, but the success of the franchise and the character’s popularity makes a return seem likely. Wright’s Shuri became a central figure in Wakanda Forever, stepping into a more prominent role following Boseman’s untimely passing.

The future of the Black Panther character was teased at the end of Wakanda Forever, with a message promising that “Black Panther will return.” This has led to widespread speculation about when and how Shuri might reappear in the MCU.

In addition to potential movie sequels, Marvel has announced the development of Eyes of Wakanda, an animated series set to explore the history of Wakandan warriors as they seek to recover dangerous vibranium artefacts around the world. This series, along with the upcoming Ironheart series, which continues the story of Riri Williams, is expected to expand on the narratives introduced in Wakanda Forever.

With two new Avengers movies slated for release in 2026 and 2027 respectively, fans are eager to see how Shuri will fit into the broader Multiverse Saga that Marvel is constructing. As these projects develop, Wright’s enthusiasm for her character and the universe suggests that Shuri’s journey is far from over.
