Attendees of the exclusive premiere were greeted by a giant statue of Black Adam himself when they walk into the cinema to collect their tickets to watch the superhero spectacle. Of course, plenty of photos were taken with the statue, which looked similar to Johnson himself in the character’s famous suit.

Not long after, the cosplayers arrived on the scene to pose and take pictures with excited fans before heading into the theatre halls and immersing themselves in the 2-hour action packed movie directed by Jaume Collet-Serra.

Black Adam follows Teth Adam, who during ancient days of Kahndaq was bestowed the almighty powers of the gods.  After using these powers for vengeance, he was imprisoned, becoming Black Adam.  Nearly 5,000 years have passed and Black Adam has gone from man, to myth, to legend.  Now released, his unique form of justice, born out of rage, is challenged by modern day heroes who form the Justice Society: Hawkman, Dr. Fate, Atom Smasher and Cyclone. The movie stars Johnson, Aldis Hodge, Pierce Brosnan, Quintessa Swindell, Noah Centineo, Sarah Shahi and Marwan Kenzari. It also sees appearances from Viola Davis and Jennifer Holland, as well as a special someone in the post-credits (warning: contains spoilers so read at your own risk).

Black Adam premieres in cinemas on 20 October in Singapore.
