The fight for humanity is headed to New York, as Attack on Titan: The Musical makes its international debut this October, and will play at the New York City Center in New York from October 11-13.
First staged in Osaka and Tokyo in 2023, the musical is entirely in Japanese, but English subtitles are provided. The Japanese cast, which includes Kurumu Okamiya as Eren Yeager, Sara Takatsuki as Mikasa Ackerman, Eito Konishi as Armin Arlert, among other cast members, will travel to New York for the performance and will play four shows.
Creator Hajime Isayama has expressed his support for the musical, saying, “When I saw the production in Tokyo, I was floored by how powerful it was. I felt that a musical was the perfect medium to express the story of Attack on Titan. The action and the songs by the performers have created a new Attack on Titan that is different from the manga or the anime series. They have created such an amazing show, and I cannot wait for everyone to see it in New York. Please look forward to the opening.”
The anime ended in 2023 with a four-part finale, but the series continues to live on in musical form. Attack on Titan: The Musical has a 1-hour and 50-minute runtime, and there will be a merchandise store at the theatre.
Tickets will go on sale online on 3 June, with a presale currently running for Crunchyroll, Kodansha and Kinokuniya members.
