After many final-but-not-really outings, Attack on Titan Final Season is set to bring the Rumbling to a conclusive end — for real this time. The anime has unveiled the (probably) last trailer for its upcoming finale, which was previously reported to have a whopping 85-minute runtime.
The reel previews plenty of intense action and emotional highs (or lows, depending on viewpoint) as Mikasa, Reiner, and the rest of the party puts a stop to Eren’s path of destruction once and for all. The episode will see Yuki Kaji, Yui Ishikawa, and Marina Inoue reprising their roles as Eren Yeager, Mikasa Ackerman and Armin Arlert, respectively, when it drops 4 November, corroborating an earlier leak of its release date.
Meanwhile, Linked Horizon, the band who performed “Guren no Yumiya” — widely considered to be one of the greatest opening themes of all time — will return to work on the theme song. Ai Higuchi, the singer of the ending song for Final Season Part 2, has been tapped for the ending song, “Itterasshai”. If the phrase is familiar, it’s because the official poster features it:
Studio MAPPA, the powerhouse behind the Attack on Titan Final Season episodes, will also be returning to direct the final episode, with anime music mainstays Hiroyuki Sawano and Kohta Yamamoto coming back as composers.
Attack on Titan: The Final Chapters Special 2 brings the anime’s 10-year run to a close, having debuted in 2013 to critical acclaim. Season 2 aired in 2017, followed by a third season split into two parts. Season 4, known as Attack on Titan Final Season, released in 2020 with 16 episodes. After a second season in January 2022, it headed into Part 3, which was split into two extra long episodes called Attack on Titan Final Season: The Final Chapters Special 1 and Special 2. The first half debuted back in March this year (yes, it’s all pretty confusing).
